Bkite Zanzibar
IKOPaje Beach (south end)
Bkite is a small, personal IKO school run by Baki and Claudia at the calmer southern end of Paje, praised for very well-kept equipment and patient instruction. It teaches beginner through advanced and holds a Travellers' Choice award.
Zanzibar's kite heart is Paje, a wide white-sand beach on the island's south-east coast where a shallow turquoise lagoon empties and fills with the tide. At low to mid tide the lagoon turns into an enormous flat, waist-deep playground, and two reliable trade-wind seasons plus a buzzing village of schools and beach bars have made it one of the most popular kite-travel spots in the world.

Common questions
When is the best time to learn in Zanzibar?
The kite season in Zanzibar runs Dec–Mar, Jun–Sep, and most reliable from Jun–Sep. Expect around 15–25 kt, typically the Kaskazi / Kusi.
Is Zanzibar good for beginners?
Yes. Zanzibar is a beginner-friendly spot, and the schools listed here run courses from your very first lesson.
Do I need to bring my own gear?
No. The 4 schools in Zanzibar include equipment in their lessons, and most also rent kites and boards once you can ride independently.
How long does it take to get riding?
Most people need roughly six to twelve hours over three to five days to get up and riding upwind on their own. The schools in Zanzibar run this as a structured course rather than one-off sessions.
What should I bring?
Just swimwear and sun protection. The schools provide everything else: kite, board, harness and a wetsuit. The water here runs 26–29°C.
Should I book lessons ahead?
Yes, especially around the Jun–Sep peak, when the wind is most reliable and courses fill up. Booking ahead also lets the school match you to the right instructor and conditions.
